Clare is a specialist neurological Chartered Physiotherapist with over twenty years experience working with patients with neurological conditions.  She was the Lead Physiotherapist at Frenchay Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre in Bristol for sixteen years, rehabilitating patients following traumatic brain injury, stroke and other neurological conditions such as Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS) and combined spinal cord injury with brain injury.  Clare has additional experience with Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis.  

Clare is at the dissertation stage of a Masters in Advanced Professional Practice in Neurological Physiotherapy (Plymouth University), a committee member of the Research Working Group for the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology (ACPIN), a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Vestibular Rehabilitation (ACPIVR) and a member of the Medico Legal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MLACP).

In addition, Clare works as an expert witness for medico-legal cases, via Somek & Associates (, providing specialist physiotherapy assessment and reports required for court proceedings.

Clare treats clients in their own homes and is passionate about helping those living with a neurological condition to achieve their best physical potential through an in-depth understanding of who they are as a person, their family/social situation and the environment in which they live.  This helps ensure more targeted community rehabilitation, education and where possible, self-management of their condition.  She is an evidence-based practitioner and enjoys the challenge of adapting the latest evidence to the unique situation of the person she is treating, to gain the best outcomes.

Clare has specialist skills in complex spasticity management, postural management, behaviour management, hydrotherapy, gait analysis and re-education, balance and falls rehabilitation, vestibular assessment and treatment and Functional Electrical Stimulation.
