Lorna has a broad range of experience working in a range of specialisms across acute services and community rehabilitation setting providing assessments, interventions, education and support. This has enabled Lorna to have an extensive understanding of the complexity of neurological injuries and the impact of any additional health needs. She has developed expansive knowledge, skills and tools to support clients and their families throughout all stages of their recovery.
Lorna specialises in brain injury and stroke rehabilitation, working as a Clinical Specialist OT in acute stroke rehabilitation within the NHS. Lorna has specialist skills in postural management, complex manual handling and upper limb rehabilitation including constraint induced movement therapy. Lorna’s work within the NHS provides a breadth of experience working within and alongside a variety of multi-disciplinary teams to provide collaborative goal setting and formulate comprehensive report writing. Lorna can also provide assessments to support fatigue management and returning to leisure activities or paid employment. Lorna has a comprehensive knowledge of employment law and is an excellent communicator in advocating for clients.
Lorna’s education provides her with an excellent comprehension of research and the importance of embedding evidence into practice to ensure clinical effectiveness and high-quality outcomes for clients. She is a dynamic and dedicated Occupational Therapist who enjoys building strong collaborative relationships with her clients.
