Ruth Salmon completed a BSc in Psychology in 2015, followed by an MSc in Neuropsychology in 2018, achieving a distinction and receiving the Rosa Burden Award for the top-performing student. She went on to complete a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in September 2023 and is currently working towards entry onto the Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists.
Ruth has worked across a range of neuropsychology settings. For four years prior to beginning her doctorate, she worked in inpatient neurorehabilitation, outpatient neuropsychology and cognitive disorders services. Since qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist, she has worked within the stroke neuropsychology team at North Bristol NHS Trust, supporting patients, families, carers and multidisciplinary professionals across inpatient, rehabilitation and community settings.
She provides neurocognitive assessment, formulation, rehabilitation and psychological therapy. Her practice draws on a range of therapeutic models, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Compassion Focused Therapy. She also holds a Foundation qualification with the Association for Family Therapy and often works with a systemic focus.
Ruth is passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care and is particularly committed to improving the accessibility of neuropsychological information and approaches for patients with cognitive and communication difficulties.
