Helen Rayner has over 25 years of experience as a Speech & Language Therapist and is a specialist in neurorehabilitation.

She has worked in a range of settings in the NHS: inpatient brain injury rehabilitation (including a High Dependency Unit and Adolescent Unit), community hospitals and outpatient services. She currently works in a specialist Parkinson’s service.

Helen has highly developed skills in working with people with cognitive- communication difficulties, acquired language disorders (e.g. aphasia) and motor speech difficulties. She is also very experienced in the assessment and management of swallowing difficulties (dysphagia).

Helen enjoys working in close partnership with people experiencing communication and swallowing difficulties and helping them to achieve their own meaningful goals. She is experienced in facilitating mental capacity assessments, and supporting key family members and significant others. Her input includes helping people to access alternative and augmentative (AAC) means of communication, both high and low-tech.

Helen is registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council and is a member of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists.
